Where I go to learn!

Hey friends!  Happy Monderday!  I hope you had some excellent weekends.

Today, as promised, I am going to show you my school!

I am now a student at The Institute of Holistic Nutrition, here at the Vancouver campus (check them out, http://www.instituteofholisticnutrition.com/).

I go on Monday and Thursday nights, and will for the next two years of my life.  Here is what it looks like on the outside;

This is the reception area;

You will be well received. I promise.

Here is the student kitchen and lounge area;

I tend not to lounge too much, but if I did, this seems like it would be a good spot.

I did not take a picture of the whole classroom, because there were already people there and I am sure they did not want to be on the internet.  Here is where I sit though!!

You can tell its mine because of the monster back pack.

The class I am currently taking is called Preventative Nutrition.  We are learning nutrition protocols to recommend to people with certain disorders of the body like Crohns disease and arthritis!  I am really loving it so far.

These are our course notes;

It looks pretty!

Every course will have course notes.  Every class we are assigned readings from the course notes, as well as from the other required texts.  The other required texts for this course are;

This one has a million pages

This book was written by two natrupaths, and it contains diet, lifestyle and supplement suggestions for many ailments.  I am sure I will be referencing this book for a long time to come.

Um yeah...

This book claims that almost all ailments in the body are due to dehydration.  Including bulimia.  I think I may just leave my comments to myself on this one…

I enjoy the pink on this one.

We have not delved into heart issues yet, so I have not read any of this book.  But I am sure that if it is even remotely better than the water book, I will love it.

Lastly, my instructor is called Lisa, and she is AMAZING.  She has so much information and I feel smarter just being around her.  She is also funny and engaging, someone you feel like listening to.

I cannot say enough good things about this school.  I can’t to keep you guys posted on all the awesome things I am going to be learning over the next two years!  That is if you want to hear it!

What do you think?

    I find this paragraph really interesting and I would love to know more about the topic of dehyration and bulimia.I have been struggling with bulimia for the last 5 years, since I was 15. It was on and off for a while but about a year and a half ago, I havent been able to go more than a couple of weeks without bingeing and purging. For a while it was multiple times a day EVERY SINGLE day. But then my health started to suffer really bad. Last year I ended up in the hospital with potassium and sodium deficiency and they had to rehydrate me. I also started feeling heart palpitations and stomach pains.

    Anyway since August of this year I have made much work in trying to break my addiction. I know its bad, but I still binge and purge about once or twice a week. But I am feeling a lot better than I have since last year. My stomach pains are gone and my hair is finally groing back, I have tons of baby hairs! But, somehow I can’t just push myself the extra mile to break free completely. That’s why your sentence strikes me very much, I would love to know what you know about healing bulimia. Maybe your words could help push me just a little further..

    P.S. I have read every single one of your blog posts, I have been reading since you started! Your b.f. reminds me of mine a tall and skinny dude! lol

    • Hello Rachel! I am so sorry to hear of your struggle. I myself suffered with Anorexia, so I know where you are coming from. The book states that people with bulimia are throwing up because they are not hydrated enough to make the alkaline liquid needed to raise the PH of the food in the stomach, before it passes into the intestines. It is total crap. Bulimia is a very real mental AND physical disorder that should never be over simplified. I do not recommend this book! Any ways, as for dealing with eating disorders, I know how difficult and complicated it can be. I am so glad to hear of the progress you have made. Our bodies are more than capable of healing themselves, as is evident by you increased health, it is really out minds we need to work on here, right? If you ever need to chat, you can always shoot me an e-mail at unitycoaching@gmail.com. I would love to chat with you! I am glad that you like my blog, and I hope to “see” you around more often! Sending you all my love and support. ❤
